The World Record for the Largest Pizza Ever Made

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie – that’s a world record!

American multinational restaurant chain Pizza Hut and YouTuber Eric ‘Airrack’ Decker made pizza history on 18th January 2023 when they teamed up in Los Angeles to take the Guinness World Record title for the largest pizza ever made.

The stunt was devised to launch the return of ‘The Big New Yorker’ – an iconic New York-style customer favourite pizza from the 1990s – to Pizza Hut menus.

The record-breaking pizza measured in at a staggering 13,990 square feet, providing a total of 68,000 mouth-watering slices. A team of helpers constructed the giant pie using around 6,192kg of dough, over 2,244kg of sweet marinara sauce, and more than 3,391kg of cheese, before topping the whopping creation with around 630,496 pieces of pepperoni. It was then baked in sections on-site at the Los Angeles Convention Centre according to Guinness World Record guidelines and in the presence of an inspector from the organisation.

The World Record also celebrated Airrack hitting 10 million subscribers on his YouTube channel who commented:

“Thanks to my community, 2022 was a BIG year for our channel, and I promised them that we’d break this record if they helped me hit 10 million subscribers on YouTube, so here we are delivering on that promise.

“To make it happen, we had to team up with the most iconic – and my favourite – pizza brand to show that NO ONE Out-Pizzas the Hut.”

Airrack’s YouTube video has had 23 million views.

In case you’re wondering, the ginormous pizza didn’t go to waste after successfully smashing the world record – it was divided up and donated to local food banks and charities in Los Angeles according to Guinness World Record food record attempt guidelines.

This is definitely one to share with friends and family – anyone for pizza?
